The Plath family has been involved in construction for over 100 years.  It started with John Fred Plath, a German immigrant, who worked as a carpenter for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad back in the late 19th Century.  Isaac Ofstie, father of Shirley Plath, was a road building contractor all through the 1920s and 1930s.  The great-grandsons of John Plath and grandsons of Isaac Ofstie, Steve, David and Gary Plath all started and successfully ran construction companies in Colorado and California.  Now Steve and Gary, along with Steve’s son, Julian Plath, have begun the next generation of contractors named Charles & Sons Builders. Charles is the name of Steve and Gary’s father and Julian’s grandfather who taught them the skills of carpentry back when they were young and also gave them the mantra; “if you’re going to do something, do it right!”
